Craig McLaughlin is an award-winning journalist and memoirist. His byline has appeared above more than a thousand articles in dozens of newspapers and magazines across the country. His memoir, "Passing on Curves While Death Rides Shotgun," is a collection of pieces from his time as a professional storyteller. Midwest Book Review said of Passing on Curves, “This is a story about navigating life when the unexpected becomes normal. One doesn’t expect caring for exotic animals to enter into this picture — but, it does. One doesn’t anticipate that a memoir so replete with medical challenge could also be steeped in hope — but, it is.” A published poet, his work appeared most recently in Tebot Bach’s journal Spillway 29. He is also co-author of a graduate-level textbook, "Health Policy Analysis: An Interdisciplinary Approach." As a healer, Craig relies on his training as a certified hypnotherapist and as a certified practitioner of Hakomi (a mindfulness-based, somatic psychotherapy technique). He also draws on his familiarity with shamanism, Buddhism and other spiritual traditions. His particular interests are promoting intimacy and healing shame. Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University and a Masters in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.
