Community Arts Center

A community comes together to create a community resource

Dorland hosts a variety of events throughout the year to benefit the community and showcase the creative spirit of local and regional artists.

With the assistance of Karen Parrott Cahill, the CAC building was generously donated by Stone Ridge Estates in Warner Springs. A gift from Dorland resident and artist Jane Culp made it possible to add an accessibility ramp and spacious deck, designed and built by Bernal Construction. ADA parking was installed by Peters Paving, and the interior was beautifully restored and painted by Board Member Michael Carrier.

The Main Room - AKA The Gallery

The main room of the Community Arts Center provides a welcoming gathering place for Dorland residents and Associate Artists. It also hosts communal meals, meetings, and other opportunities for artists to connect.

This space also serves as the Dorland Art Gallery, where the community is invited to attend exhibits and receptions throughout the year, featuring the work of Dorland Associate Artists.

Our Associate Artist Program offers several benefits to its members and helps Dorland continue building a vibrant, supportive creative community. Through membership, Associate Artists help sustain Dorland’s programs, events, and gallery opportunities while participating in a network that celebrates and encourages local and regional artists.

The Dorland Library

The Dorland Library is small but continues to grow as residents generously donate copies of their books. The library offers a comfortable reading area, a writing desk, and a computer and printer available for resident use. Free Wi-Fi is also available.

Workshops

Residents and Associate Artists are invited to use the CAC to offer arts and healing workshops and classes for the children and adults in our community. Watch for email invitations to these events.

Jane Culp Studio

The Jane Culp Studio provides a generous workspace for visual artists when a larger or more flexible area is needed. This room offers artists space to spread out, work on larger pieces, prepare materials, or continue projects outside their cottage studio.

The studio is equipped with a Charles Brand etching press, allowing artists to explore traditional printmaking techniques while in residence. This equipment expands the ways visual artists can experiment, create, and develop new work at Dorland.
