Dorland Mountain Arts Equity and Diversity Policy
Commitment to Artistic Expression and Inclusion
Dorland Mountain Arts is dedicated to ensuring full access to artistic expression for all. We hereby formalize our enduring commitment to just, inclusive, and equitable practices that empower a diverse constituency.
Inclusive Outreach and Participation
Dorland continually reaches out to communities of diverse ethnicity, culture, gender, and other backgrounds, striving to ensure broad participation in all of our programs, including:
- Artist residencies
- Local community events
- Educational and social activities through our Associate Artist program and Community Art Center
We are committed to finding new and effective ways to communicate with these communities, making sure they are informed about Dorland’s offerings and feel welcomed, supported, and championed in every interaction with our leadership, staff, and volunteers.
Financial Accessibility
We continue to support efforts like the Barbara Residency Fellowship Fund to reduce and remove financial barriers to participation. Financial assistance remains a top priority in our fundraising, ensuring that subsidies for artist residency and Associate Artist program fees are available, so that cost is never a barrier for applicants.
Diversifying Leadership
Dorland’s leadership is committed to continually diversifying its board, staff, and volunteer ranks by proactively seeking candidates from a wide range of backgrounds. As a women-founded and women-led organization for nearly its entire history, Dorland pledges to extend its legacy of inclusion and support into all diverse communities.
