Marion Siu

Marion Lau Siu, 95, was born in Honolulu (Territory of Hawaii), a 4th generation American, and a supporter of Dorland Mt. Arts Colony for many years. She met Barbara Horton, one of the founders, who supported the Citizens Committee to Save Elysian Park’s fundraising 9-course Chinese banquets, organized by Marion and her husband, Ming. Barbara was a Dorland co-founder with good friend Ellen Dorland.


On graduation from L.A. Polytechnic H.S., Marion was voted into the Ephebian Society, attended UCLA on scholarship, as well as the University of Hawaii, graduating cum laude and voted into Phi Beta Kappa. She was also voted into Phi Kappa Phi honor society of the UCLA School of Education, and taught 1st grade for 25 years with LAUSD. Marion has had a rich life, traveled extensively, and has met many interesting and dynamic people.
