Mary Christine Delea, who goes by Christine, is the author of The Skeleton Holding Up the Sky (Main Street Rag Press) and 3 chapbooks. Her poems have appeared in Mid-American Review, The MacGuffin, The Comstock Review, Honest Ulsterman, New Ohio Review, Zone 3 and many other journals. Her work has also been published in anthologies with a variety themes, including Elvis Presley, art, famous writers, and housework. She grew up on Long Island and has lived in Ohio, Maine, West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Dakota, Colorado, and now Oregon. Delea has a Ph.D. in English/Creative Writing and has taught at a number of colleges and universities (besides also doing social work, improv comedy, retail management, and a stint as an AmeriCorps volunteer). Since leaving academia she has volunteered for a number of organizations. Delea has led workshops in person and online for her city’s public library and as fundraisers for nonprofits she volunteers with. Besides being a poet and a volunteer, she makes beaded jewelry, quilts, headdresses, and altered books. Delea was recently named one of 15 poets to have a poem engraved into a metal sign and placed in parks in Estacada, Oregon.
