Micah Huang

Micah Huang (any pronoun) is a musician and interdisciplinary performance artist whose work explores embodied consciousness through ritual, community and technology. By combining ancient traditions (including ritual music and martial arts) with cutting-edge technological tools (including biometrics and virtual reality), Micah’s work explores the ways in which aesthetic interventions can have lasting, measurable benefits for individuals and communities.

Micah’s current work includes collaboration with the UCSD Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience to create immersive audiovisual experiences with the potential to help patients manage anxiety and PTSD.

Past projects include organizing and hosting the 2024 LA Hungry Ghost Festival, ongoing performance collaborations with the Gabrielino Shoshone and Tongva Indigenous communities, and numerous other arts based community advocacy that directly addresses pressing issues such as cross-cultural empathy, and economic inequality. Micah's work has been featured by local and national media outlets including KCRW, KPBS, ABC7 Los Angeles and the Washington Post. Works have received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, California Arts Council, UCLA Chancellor's Award, Mahindra Humanities Center, Fulbright Commission, and others. Micah is currently pursuing a PhD in Creative Practice & Critical Inquiry at Harvard University.
