Rachel B. Levin is a Los Angeles-based journalist and creative nonfiction writer with over 20 years of experience. A graduate of Stanford University, she earned master’s degrees in English and creative nonfiction writing at the University of Southern California (USC). Rachel began her writing career covering arts, entertainment, travel and culture for nationally recognized publications including the Los Angeles Times, Time Out, Travel+Leisure, and the Travel Channel. Her personal essays have appeared in Narratively, Southwest Airlines Magazine, and the Los Angeles Times. Currently, she is a staff writer and multimedia journalist at USC, where her stories showcase the university’s world-class research and programs. Rachel has taught courses in composition and creative/expressive writing at USC, California State University Los Angeles, Los Angeles City College, and PCC Extension at Pasadena City College. She is a certified JOURNAL TO THE SELF® instructor, and her Substack newsletter Word Medicine explores the science and mysteries of writing to heal. An avid dancer, she performed professionally with the Ole Skool Crew dance team for the Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA) and currently performs with the over-40 hip-hop dance group No Regrets. Rachel lives in L.A.’s South Bay with her husband and brown tabby cat.
