Teresa S. Mathes holds an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars. She has taught creative writing to undergraduates at DePaul University, served as a visiting artist at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and founded and directed the Young Authors’ Program at Sunset Ridge Elementary School. Her work has appeared in such diverse journals as The Georgia Review, Prairie Schooner, Calyx, and The Sun. Her fiction has been recognized by the Pushcart Prize anthology and the National Magazine Awards. Her essay, “Out of Hate Speech, a New Language,” was anthologized in Solace.
